- Jumper
- Power Cord
Simply follow the instructions included in your Digital Fast Connect Kit and you’re all set! Here's a quick reference sheet for installing your digital receiver and a troubleshooting
guide. You can pick up a Digital Fast Connect Kit at any Cox Communications location.
Quick Reference
Please follow these steps when installing your digital receiver.
- 1. Verify that you have received the following items in your Self Install Kit.
- Digital receiver and RF (Coaxial) cable (if needed)
- Jumpers (Black Cables) if needed; only one set provided
- New Remote with instructions and batteries
- Cox Customer Handbook
- Receiver Hookup Diagrams
- VCR Commander
- 2. Choose the Location of the Digital Receiver.
- Choose a spot with adequate ventilation. The digital receiver generates heat much like a personal computer and needs proper ventilation. Please leave approximately 4 inches of space between the top of the digital receiver and other electronic equipment or an entertainment center.
- 3. Make the following connections.
- Connect RF cable (coaxial) to the cable IN on back of digital receiver.
- Connect power cord to back of digital receiver first and then plug into electric wall outlet. (DO NOT TURN ON DIGITAL RECEIVER).
- 4. Call for authorization of digital receiver.
- Look at the back of your digital receiver and you will see three sets of numbers (they are located on stickers at the back of the receiver). Record the serial number that begins with SA____. You will need this number to authorize your Digital Service.
- Your digital receiver has been temporarily authorized for your Digital services. If you do not call for authorization, your Digital Receiver will lose its signal within a few days after installation. Call 604-SELF (7353) to have a signal sent from our Control Center to your digital receiver. This will allow the digital receiver to become fully functional.
- 5. Connect the rest of your audio and visual equipment.
- Refer to hookup diagrams for specific instructions. We do not recommend plugging the television into the back of the digital receiver. However, if the outlet is used, then press "Settings" on the remote and scroll through the options until you reach "Set: AC-outlet." Verify that the setting is "On with set-top."
- Tip: If your installation is more complicated than the diagrams shown, please call 600-8282 for assistance. Press Power button on your digital receiver.
- 6. Program the Remote Control.
- Place the batteries that are provided inside the remote control through the access panel on the back of the remote.
- Refer to your Digital Customer Handbook to program your remote to control your TV, your VCR and even a CD player. Codes and instructions are provided on pages 8-13.
- Tip: The remote is already configured to operate your digital receiver.
