To get started, you need a wireless device with a wireless network
automatically detect and connect to available networks while you're on
the road, at the office or at home.
In order to connect to Cox WiFi
Service, you must have a properly installed 802.11b or 802.11g
wireless network card or an Intel Centrino WiFi laptop, a properly installed TCP/IP Stack, and a web
In addition, computers connected to Cox WiFi
Service must meet
Cox High Speed Internet minimum requirements.
For browser based authentication, you
must configure your WiFi 802.11b or 802.11g enabled laptop to access the Cox WiFi
Service network. By setting the SSID
(or service set identifier) in your wireless device to CoxWiFi, your device can
synchronize to the Cox WiFi Service network.
Your existing laptop or handheld may already have WiFi
802.11b or 802.11g wireless capability built-in. If not, you can
purchase one for most laptops and many PDAs direct from the

To get started follow these instructions to
access Cox WiFi Service:
- Launch your Internet browser (this
will usually be Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator) from within
a Cox WiFi Service
- Your browser will automatically bring up a login screen. If
your browser does not bring up the login screen, please enter
www.cox.com/ocpv/wifi into the address bar.
- Enter your full Cox email address
(example: firstname.lastname@example.org) and password and click "Submit". Remember
that your password is case sensitive.
Note: You will need to create your email address from a non-wifi
connection prior to logging on to our Cox WiFi Service in the
Internet Tools section. "Internet Tools" is a new area found on
cox.net under the "My Account" link in the navigation area.
