Will I receive a refund for the time my Cox services were disrupted by the storm?
Yes! As a service to our customers and as Middle Georgia’s Most Trusted Provider of Communication and Entertainment Services, we will issue automatic credits to all customers for the time their Cox services were disrupted by the May 11th storm. Customers do not need to request a refund to receive credits to their account.
The storm was over a week ago, but it took one or more days for Cox to fix my cable, high-speed Internet and/or telephone. Why did it take so long to restore my services?
Due to the storm’s severity, tens of thousands of Cox customers lost their power and/or Cox services at the beginning of last week. Our Cox emergency responders have made great strides to identify and resolve service disruptions however, and due to their diligence, our network is now back up and running. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for choosing Cox as your telecommunications provider!
I’m still having Cox service issues. Why?
Unfortunately, there are several reasons why the storm may continue to disrupt Cox services in your area. As recovery efforts continue, electricians, contractors, utility providers and other service technicians are inadvertently cutting Cox wires as they work to restore power and remove the storm’s debris. In addition, as homeowners remove trees from their yards, many have fallen and damaged our lines. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience.
Couldn’t you have contracted with other companies to help restore my Cox services more quickly?
We did, and to accelerate storm recovery efforts, Cox increased its field operations presence by nearly 200 percent. In addition to internal resources, Cox operations teams from Atlanta, Gainesville, Roanoke, Gulf Coast, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Hampton Roads and New Orleans are providing their support. Local contractors are also providing additional workload assistance and we continue to work closely with area utility providers.
In the storm’s aftermath, what has Cox done to help the community?
In our continued commitment to our community, Cox donated over 800 pounds of ice to the Georgia Emergency Management Agency for citizens in need. Cox also donated food to the Macon Rescue Mission and we continue to investigate additional ways to support our employees and the community in need.
Thank you for choosing Cox as your telecommunications provider!
