Cox Certified for Government Telecommunication Services throughout Virginia

Additional voice and data service options now available for military and government entities

Chesapeake, VA — Cox has been approved by the General Services Administration for a Local Services Acquisition (LSA) contract. As a result of this approval, military and government customers located in GSA's Region 3 Mid-Atlantic service area will be able to purchase voice and data services from Cox systems throughout the state of Virginia.

The latest distinction allows Cox to support GSA local, state and federal government agencies with advanced communications solutions in the Greater Hampton Roads region, Roanoke and Northern Virginia.

"Reliability and advanced telecommunications from a trusted provider are absolutely necessary for military installations," said Michael Braham, Vice President, Cox Business Hampton Roads. "With this LSA contract, Cox is positioned to help our military and government customers in Region 3 meet their mission critical communications needs with cost-effective solutions. As the largest system within Virginia, Cox Hampton Roads is facilitating and serving as the liaison to GSA for this contract."

Cox owns its network and has deployed over hundreds of thousands of fiber miles of network throughout Virginia. "Cox Hampton Roads has a proud history of being the first competitive local carrier to challenge large telecom carriers in the Virginia market," added Braham. "We will continue building on this success statewide by emphasizing our flexibility, reliability, security, availability and value during the execution of the LSA contract because our customers deserve and expect this type of service."

Earlier this year, Cox was approved for a Schedule 70 program for high-speed Internet and advanced data services in the Hampton Roads region. Also, Cox is included in GSA schedules in nine states, including the GSA Local Service Agreement list in Arizona, California, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Rhode Island and Virginia. Cox was recently awarded a place on the GSA Metropolitan Area Agreement (MAA) to provide service to federal government agencies in the city of New Orleans.
