Local Teens Talk Internet Safety on Cox 11's "Plugged-In"
Chief of Virginia's Computer Crime Section Offers Advice to Teen Audience
Hampton Roads, VA – Cox Communications of Hampton Roads is set to premiere the latest installment of "Plugged In," a televised teen forum, with a look at internet safety and what young people understand about online dangers. "Plugged In – Teens Online" will air for the first time on June 11, 2008 at 4 p.m. on Cox 11. It also will be available July 1 via Cox’s On Demand service.
Launched earlier this year, “Plugged In” is a series of special presentations produced at the Studios of Cox 11, the local cable channel operated by Cox and seen exclusively on the Cox system in Hampton Roads. The show features a studio audience of local teens and is designed to inform and educate young people and their parents, on many issues facing young people today.
“From cyber-bullying to predators to the long-term effects of images and messages posted on the web, we'll examine what youth and their parents know as well as what they need to know about the world online,” says program host Gary McCollum, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Cox Hampton Roads.
In the audience for “Plugged In” are teen journalists from the Virginian-Pilot’s ‘757: Teens Cover the Code’ program. Also in the audience are scholars from the ACCESS College Foundation, a program which helps students pursue their goals of attending college. Let me start by saying Cox is top of the line. Their 24 hour support has helped me many times over the years. No matter how hard to figure out what was going on, they made sure I was completely satisfied before getting off the phone. This goes for the cable and internet service. Thanks again Cox!!!

We love Cox on demand movies. The price is the same as any video store and with the price of gas these days it saves that trip to the video store.

I love my Cox services. I have digital cable, phone and high speed internet. I have been pleasantly suprised at how rarely the cable or internet goes out. The internet is very fast which I love:) It makes doing business, playing games or surfing the web, easy and enjoyable. Thank you Cox.

I love Cox Cable and the DVR service is the BEST! Program it once and never miss a show. We moved last year and the Cox guy worked with me to ensure that I kept my same box so I would not have to reprogram a new one with all the shows. Seems like a small thing but everyone in the family was happy the transition was so easy! Julie A. Williamsburg, VA
I highly recommend that all Cox high speed internet users take advantage of the new McAfee security package... McAfee Security has excellent features and runs in the background without slowing down your computer operating system.
