Cox 11 Airs Memorial Day Tribute May 26, 2008

Six Hour Programming Block Salutes Fallen Soldiers

Hampton Roads, VA – On Monday, May 26, 2008, Cox Communications will present a program that recognizes the men and women of the armed forces who have made sacrifices in service of the United States of America.

On Monday’s Memorial Day holiday, Cox 11 will dedicate six hours of programming in a salute to the soldiers who have died fighting in and/or in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom (in Afghanistan). This tribute, which also is sponsored by the Hampton Roads Honda Dealers Association, will include a silent roll call of the more than 4,500 names of those who have paid the price of freedom with their lives. The tribute will air from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a repeat of the tribute aired from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Gary McCollum, Cox Senior Vice President and General Manager said, "We truly appreciate the dedication and sacrifices made by our neighbors and friends in uniform and their families. This Memorial Day we offer a tribute to the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service of their country." Mr. McCollum, who is a former Army Ranger himself, adds, "We hope those who watch even a part of this tribute will take time to reflect on what it means to be a citizen of this great land, and remember all those who have fought for us."

Tribute partner Pete Lively, who is President of the Hampton Roads Honda Dealers Association, said, "The Hampton Roads Honda Dealers saw this as an opportunity to show our endless appreciation and respect for those soldiers and families who have made incredible sacrifices on behalf of our country."

Cox 11 is Cox Communications' local origination channel featuring original Hampton Roads programming.
