1. Do you support commercial customers?

Answer: Cox High Speed Internet was developed for the residential customer. Cox has developed Cox Business Services for its commercial customers.

2. Do you offer access to email when I travel?

Answer: Yes, Cox High Speed Internet does offer access to your email when you are away from home. Cox High Speed Internet allows you to access your email anywhere, anytime using any Internet-connected personal computer with a standard web browser. You can access your mail box at http://webmail.cox.net.

3. How many e-mail addresses do I get?

Answer: Cox High Speed Internet currently provides up to seven e-mail addresses. One will be used as a primary address, and the other six are additional addresses, offering a chance for each member of the household to have a separate, dedicated e-mail address.

4. Where can I purchase a DOCSIS modem and which ones are compatible with the Cox High Speed Internet system?

Answer: Customers can purchase a compatible cable modem from Cox or one of our retail partners.; For a list of Cox recommended modems click here

5. Can the cable modem support multiple computers?

Answer: You can now run up to 3 computers simultaneously on the Cox High Speed Internet service. Cox High Speed Internet provides you with a high speed connection to the Internet for one computer. You can then purchase additional high speed connections for up to 2 more computers. There are other methods of networking multiple computers together. However, the home network setup is not in any way supported by Cox High Speed Internet service. Please visit one of our retail partners for your equipment needs.

6. Can I send 'spam' or unsolicited commercial email through your service?

Answer: No. Sending unsolicited bulk commercial e-mail ("spam") can potentially violate a number of state laws as well as Internet etiquette. For these reasons, and because of the adverse impact on the Cox High Speed Internet network that spam can create, the Cox High Speed Internet subscriber agreement prohibits customers from using the service to send spam or any other unsolicited mass e-mailings. Please keep in mind that in the states that have anti-spamming laws, engaging in conduct that violates those laws can expose the sender to substantial penalties.

7. Will the cable technician be able to fix my TV problems while he or she installs the cable modem?

Answer: Our Cox Communications technicians can often fix minor problems with your video service when they come to your residence to install your cable modem. If more in-depth troubleshooting is needed, the technician will be able to assist you with making an appointment for further support.

8. Can I get my e-mail when I travel on business trips?

Answer: Yes, As long as you have an Internet connection, you can access your email from anywhere you travel using any PC with a standard web browser.

9. Can I have my own Web page?

Answer: Sure. Cox High Speed Internet customers are provided with up to ten megabytes of Web space for each e-mail address they receive. This space is provided by Cox High Speed Internet. Your web address would be: http://members.cox.net/username where username is the username you choose when you sign up for service.

10. What Web browsers do you support and can I use browsers that Cox High Speed Internet does not support?

Answer: Cox High Speed Internet provides a customized version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Customers may use any Web browser they choose although Cox High Speed Internet does not offer any technical support for any other browsers. Customers may, however, contact the creators of specific browsers for support.

11. If I have more than one computer can I have the modem set up for more than one location?

Answer: To ensure that the cable modem has the 'purest' signal possible, we are unable to split the coaxial cable to install the cable modem in multiple rooms. The customer must choose the best room for installation of the cable modem.

12. Do you offer newsgroups and is there any censoring involved?

Answer: In addition to the Cox High Speed Internet* discussion groups, Cox High Speed Internet delivers more than 25,000 newsgroups via new servers all over the country. However, groups with limited use but high storage demands may be excluded. Though some groups are not available from the Cox High Speed Internet news servers, those interested can use an alternate news service to access them. Cox does not monitor the content posted in news groups. However, if we receive complaints about inappropriate or unlawful conduct, we reserve the right to take appropriate actions against the subscriber posting the offending materials.

13. Does Cox High Speed Internet assign a static or dynamic IP address?

Answer: Cox High Speed Internet utilizes Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) with the Cox High Speed Internet Network. However, the DHCP server assigns the cable modem the same IP address.
