The cable technician will install the cable modem and software on your PC (HSI Start Up disk). An adult (age 18 or over) must be present during this installation as there are license agreements, an Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service information that must be explained.

Cox will:
HSI Start Up disk will determine if PC meets minimum requirements
  Install coaxial cable to the computer's location
Connect the cable modem to the coaxial cable
Synchronize the cable modem
Install an Ethernet card (if needed) or configure the USB connection    
    (We recommend that customers have their own Ethernet card already
    installed before a technician arrives)
Install & configure computer network settings (Performed by HSI Start
    Up disk)
Install software (Performed by HSI Start Up disk)
Configure Software (Performed by HSI Start Up disk)
Answer questions about service (Internet browsing, email)
Provide Welcome Kit that includes:
Installation CD
Subscriber agreement
User Manual
Desktop Reference Card
Special Offers

Full Self Install allows you to conveniently and easily setup your Cox High Speed Internet Service completely on your own. You do not have to wait for an installation appointment and can perform the install at your convenience. It saves you time and money and you can do it yourself! You perform all cable and PC set up work. In addition, it reduces the risk of others opening your computer. Customers who qualify will save the cost of installation because it’s FREE! You perform all wiring needed and configuration of your computer.

To Qualify for Full Self-Install, You Must:
You must be an active cable customer and must have an active cable
     outlet within 15 feet of your computer location
You must be willing to go to a Cox Retail Center location to sign
     the Work Order/Subscriber Agreement and pick up a Fast Connect
     Self Install Kit and modem (should you decide to rent a modem from
     Cox). If you choose this option and own your own modem, it is
     important for you to bring the MAC address and Serial number of
     your modem with you. We will not activate services until a modem
     MAC and Serial number are placed in our billing system. Services
     and billing will be activated immediately upon receipt of this
     information.
  You must be able to install splitters and coaxial cable.
  You must have a Network Interface Card (NIC) already installed in
     your PC or have an open USB port.
  You must be able to connect the cable modem to the computer.
  You must be able to install the Cox High Speed Internet software
     from the CD-ROM provided in the Fast Connect Self-Install Kit.
