Cox is proud to be a founding member of Cable in the Classroom, a national initiative designed to improve education by providing complimentary access to educational cable programming. Through our commitment, private and public schools in our communities receive a complimentary cable connection providing commercial-free programming each month - all geared to provide teachers with lively, curriculum-rich resources to inspire learning. Our cable network partners reformat programming to help make it teacher- and kid-friendly, as well as adaptable in the classroom according to national standards.
Cox extended its commitment to schools when it began providing complimentary high-speed Internet access and unique distance learning opportunities via Cox’s Line to Learning program. At Cox, we recognize the power of technology in education - it fosters partnerships, collaborations and advanced learning opportunities among organizations and individuals traditionally separated by time, space and place. In essence, more time to learn. The Internet helps students become independent, critical thinkers, able to find information, organize and evaluate it, and then effectively express their new knowledge and ideas in compelling ways.
A long-time partner with school systems in Broadview Heights, Brooklyn Heights, Fairview Park, Lakewood, Olmsted Falls, Olmsted Township, Parma, Parma Heights, Rocky River and Seven Hills, Cox Cleveland provides complimentary
Cox Cable Television service to 66 area public and private schools. By the end of 2004, all of our community schools will also have complimentary Cox High Speed Internet service.
Cox Communications Cleveland’s commitment, valued at almost $30,000 per month, provides local schools with advanced tools to increase the quality of instruction in their classrooms.
