PHOENIX – Cox Arizona will pay tribute to "Earth Day" April 22 in a number of 'green' ways, all of which support the Cox commitment to encourage conservation. And this Earth Day one of those ways will actually taste good.
- Grilled roasted vegetables
- Barley with sesame ginger, carrots and broccoli salad
- Angel hair pasta with fresh mushrooms, asparagus and red peppers
- Tossed salad with mixed greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, onion and carrots
- Red onions, peppers and corn cobs grilled to perfection

On Earth Day, Cox will host a so-called 'all earth' luncheon. The menu will feature all natural ingredients, everything grown from the earth and all produce purchased from local farmers. The menu includes:
The Earth Day luncheon will be an eco-friendly one. We will use biodegradable plates and utensils and hand out energy saving tips. We are also giving Cox employees – who pledge to practice at least one energy saving tactic at home – a free recyclable drink mug to use.
"We have a number of initiatives in Arizona that are good for business and demonstrate our commitment to sustainability. Last year we began to increase the number of fuel efficient vehicles in the Cox fleet, we have a 'green' call center that allows more than 250 customer service representatives to work from home during the week, saving the commute fuel and time. We are also undertaking a large scale project that will power selected buildings with solar energy," says Steve Rizley, senior vice president and general manager of Cox Communications Arizona. “A good corporate environment of sustainable practices means a commitment to changing our work environment and culture.”
Cox's green initiatives also include public service announcements; a special one is airing right now that promotes Earth Day and features Cox employees. "We want to help educate our employees and customers on how the small things they do have a great impact," Rizley said.
Cox has devoted an entire Web site, www.coxconserves.com, to share tips about how customers can go green at work, home and while traveling. It’s part of the company’s overall corporate commitment to reduce its carbon footprint by 20 percent no later than 2017.
