Attention talented students! Come to Open Talent Competition Thursday, February 14th.

TUCSON – Southern Arizona’s got talent and Everyday Heroes wants to showcase it at the 6th annual awards ceremony in Phoenix, May 17, and live throughout the state on Cox7-Arizona. Tryouts for the Academy Awards-style ceremony will be held from 3 to 8 p.m., Thurs., Feb. 14, at the Santa Rita High School Auditorium, 3951 S. Pantano Rd., in Tucson.

The awards ceremony has featured such rising star attractions as Jordan Sparks, Phoenix student and recent winner of “American Idol.” Everyday Heroes recognizes students, coaches, officials, administrators and teachers exemplifying character and honor in their achievements at the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) event held at the Orpheum Theatre. Everyday Heroes is a partnership between the AIA and Cox Communications.

Student Requirements
  • Performers must be between the ages of 13 and 20.
  • Acts can be individual or groups and should be from 2 to 4 minutes in length.
  • Singers, musicians, dancers or other creative acts are welcome.
Audition Details
  • This is an open call audition with no scheduled appointments. Performers will be seen in order of arrival.
  • For track music, please bring it in CD format. If no CD format is available, sing a cappella at the audition.
  • Microphones will be provided.
  • There will be a piano available at the auditions. No other equipment will be provided, however power will be available.
  • The audition will be videotaped for review purposes.
If selected, performers MUST be available Fri., May 16 and Sat., May 17 for rehearsals and the show. Performers will not be paid, however if selected, complimentary tickets to the event and a video copy of the performance will be provided. Performers will be required to sign a release allowing Cox Communications to televise their performance.
