Cox Communications is looking for Arizona students and teachers to call "Everyday Heroes"

PHOENIX — Cox Communications and the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) are looking for outstanding students, coaches, faculty members and athletic administrators who live in Arizona. All are encouraged to submit nominations to become one of our 2008 Everyday Heroes.

The Everyday Heroes program honors students and adults who display a strong sense of character and interscholastic achievement with an emphasis on sportsmanship and healthy lifestyles. The recipients will be announced at an Academy Awards-style show at the Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix on May 17. The ceremony is broadcast live in Phoenix and Tucson on Cox7.

"This event gets bigger and better each year, and it truly represents some wonderful examples of how gifted and promising these students and teachers are and what an impact they are having in our communities," says Ivan Johnson, Cox Arizona vice president of community relations and televideo.

Nomination forms and details can be found on the AIA Web site at www.aiaonline.org. All documentation should be submitted to the AIA by mail or fax.

Cox and the AIA are also looking for individuals and groups to perform at Everyday Heroes. Acts should be between 2 - 4 minutes in length. Singers, musicians, dancers or other creative acts are welcome. If selected, performers MUST be available on Friday, May 16 and Saturday, May 17 for rehearsals and the show. Auditions will be held Feb. 7 and Feb. 14.

This is the sixth annual Everyday Heroes event. Since its inception in 2003, Everyday Heroes has honored more than 260 award finalists and recipients and awarded more than $150,000 in cash and prizes. You may direct questions to 602-795-8491 or by emailing everydayheroes@cox.com.
