What is the Digital TV transition?
- TV networks (broadcasters) will no longer be permitted to send analog signals to TVs. This means that anyone who has an analog TV and relies on an antenna to get their signal will no longer be able to view over-the-air broadcast programming unless they have a digital-to-analog converter box.
Why is the government implementing the digital transition?
- Having digital signals will free up capacity for first-responders such as local police and fire departments to improve emergency response.
- Digital broadcasting allows TV stations to send clearer signals which enhance picture and sound quality.
- TV stations can use this new technology to transmit high-definition signals to provide new HD channels.
* A digital-to-analog converter is not needed if your TV is connected to a Cox cable outlet. Installation charges apply for wiring additional cable outlets. Restrictions may apply. © 2008 CoxCom, Inc. dba Cox Communications Arizona. All rights reserved.
