Cox Kickoff Classic
Cox Communications Arizona has been broadcasting high school sports for more than 25 years! Cox and the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) are proud partners in supporting our community through interscholastic sports, activities and education. Through this partnership, Cox is pleased to host the 2nd annual Cox7 AIA Kickoff Classic football game which this year featured Brophy College Preparatory and Salpointe Catholic High School. The game was broadcast live in Phoenix and Southern Arizona on Cox7-AZ.

Cox Connects with Holiday Cheer
Each year Cox Communications participates in a number of charitable food and toy drives as well as other events in Phoenix and Tucson that reflect the values Cox has instilled within its employees. A number of departments have risen to the challenge individually to support the communities we live in. In the spirit of the holiday season we have been able to bring joy and happiness to countless children, students, families, and military personnel. In an effort to combine our efforts, Cox Communications has created an annual campaign titled, “Cox Connects with Holiday Cheer”.
This inspired program combines the efforts of each department in helping to promote a better and more successful holiday campaign. Working together enables us to effectively reach out to those in need. Currently, Cox Communications takes part in the following programs:

• Capital School Toy Drive
• Packages from Home (November)
• Tucson’s Arizona Children’s Association
• Tucson’s Winterhaven Wreath Hanging
• Sierra Vista Holiday Parade
• Sierra Vista Salvation Army Angel Tree

Each year’s campaign provides an exciting display of unity and charity.

FBR Open
Each year, at the end of January, the PGA comes to the Valley for the FBR Open at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) in Scottsdale, Arizona. Cox Communications continues to be a proud sponsor of the FBR as the exclusive telecommunications provider and an event sponsor.

Cox Business Services has installed more than 21 miles of cable, more than 400 phone lines and about 200 televisions to provide telecommunications to the Open and the TPC Corporate Village.

The Cox hospitality tent on the 18th fairway sports a different theme each year. Past visitors have enjoyed the Cox Internet Café with a custom coffee bar, comfortable seating, plasma TV’s, and Cox High Speed Internet access. Featured in 2007 was the Cox Cinema with two high definition plasma screen televisions side-by-side, theater-style seating for watching the tournament, golf themed movies and decoration, plus a Pivot wireless phone display to be enjoyed by 500 Cox business clients and guests daily.

Other support includes Cox High Speed Internet connection sites throughout the course, free local calling for FBR spectators via seven public phone kiosks on the course, and Cox signage/logo visibility included on the CoxTron jumbo screens. Cox TeleVideo also provides a half hour pre/post show highlighting the FBR Open in addition to the on-site live coverage of the tournament on Cox Channel 22.

Everyday Heroes
Every year, Cox Communications and the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) hold the Everyday Heroes Awards, an award program that honors high school athletes, coaches, officials and teachers for their outstanding work in their schools and communities. More than 60 finalists are considered each year for the awards and if selected, they will receive prizes, including grants and scholarships.

The finalists are honored and the awards are given each May at the Everyday Heroes Awards Gala, hosted at the Orpheum Theater. This awards show is broadcast live on Cox-7AZ, and continues to air throughout the following months. In addition to the awards presentation, the Gala also displays the talent of local entertainment acts throughout the show, with acts including vocal artists, bands and stunt and cheer teams. Cox Rox
Cox Rox is a program in which local bands are given the chance to open for the headlining act at the Tempe Music Festival. It begins with 24 local bands that have the opportunity to perform publicly at a show at Desert Ridge in February and March. Based on audience votes, the top nine bands are then invited back to play live on the Cox Rox television program, which is broadcast on Cox7-AZ. Viewers are able to vote for their favorite band during the broadcasts, using their Cox Digital Cable remote controls. The five bands with the most votes are then given a slot to compete live at the Tempe Music Festival. The final contest takes place at the Tempe Music Festival, with the winning band receiving an SRP-sponsored scholarship, all new instruments from Fender, and an opening spot for the headlining band. A portion of the proceeds from the Cox Rox program are given to Cox Charities to distribute to youth and education programs throughout the state. Stay tuned for information on the 2008 Cox Rox Battle of the Bands competition!
