Cox Communications. Your friend in the digital age.

Committed to Our Communities

At Cox, we believe strong communities are built from the kids up. That’s why our community outreach programs primarily support youth and education initiatives. During 2004, our company’s in-kind and direct cash contributions exceeded $100 million.

Employee Volunteerism

The driving force behind our community support has always been our people. Cox’s 23,000 employees nationwide donate countless hours of their time to help worth-while community organizations. In a single day, this past October, more than 1,200 employees volunteered 5,000 hours of community service at Boys & Girls Clubs.

Cox’s Line to Learning initiative

In 2004, Cox donated cash and other in-kind contributions totaling more than $50 million to 6,250 schools. Through Cox’s Line to Learning initiative, more than 2,400 schools, libraries and community centers receive complimentary high-speed Internet service. More than 6,250 schools receive free cable programming.

Cable in the Classroom

Cox Communications is a founding member of Cable in the Classroom, a non-profit organization that provides commercial-free programming and online resources to teachers and administrators in 81,000 public and private schools.

Boys & Girls Clubs

To help bridge the digital divide, Cox provides local Boys and Girls Clubs of America with free or discounted high-speed internet and cable service and advertising time valued in the millions of dollars each year.

Local Investment

Since 1996 Cox has invested more than $12 billion in its communities through infrastructure upgrades to deliver video, phone and high-speed Internet service to homes and businesses in the company’s service area.

Take Charge! Smart choices for your Cox Digital home

There are so many choices today for information and entertainment available through Cable and the Internet. Now more than ever before, parents have the added responsibility of sorting through content – good and bad—that’s available to their children. To help parents, Cox created Take Charge. Launched in August 2004, the initiative strives to increase customers’ awareness and use of the parental controls and filtering tools already available on their cable and Internet services.

Cox has joined forces with children’s advocate and TV host John Walsh to educate families nationwide about this vital issue. Providing tools and resources that are easy to understand and implement, Take Charge! helps parents find great educational TV shows and web sites while creating safe boundaries around their children’s media experience. Program components include a comprehensive web site with links to other tools, a free resource guide and local educational activities within the communities Cox serves.

Commitment to diversity

Diversity is an important part of the culture, values and business operations at Cox Communications. To us, diversity means understanding the perspectives, needs and priorities of all people and working to include and represent them in our business. We continue to look for more ways to include more people in our business and we believe that by guiding our efforts to do so, our comprehensive corporate diversity strategy is making us a stronger, better company for all people to do business with.
