This option is for potential peers that meet Cox Communications' Peering Requirements.

Guidelines

The guidelines for establishing public interconnection with Cox Communications are:

  • For domestic ISPs coast-to-coast nationwide OC-12 or larger backbone.
  • Presence at two or more Public Peering locations listed above (at least one on the West Coast and one on the East Coast or Mid West).
  • Presence at two or more Public peering locations listed above for International ISPs.
  • A minimum Internet traffic exchange of 100 Mbps (95th percentile) with Autonomous system 22773.
  • Willingness to enter into a Bilateral Interconnection Agreement and Non-Disclosure Agreement with Cox Communications.
  • Experienced, professional Network Operations Center staffed 24x7x365.
  • Consistent route announcements at all exchange locations.

The guidelines for establishing private interconnection with Cox Communications are:

  • For domestic ISPs coast-to-coast nationwide OC-12 or larger backbone.
  • Presence at two or more Private peering locations listed above (at least one on the West Coast and one on the East Coast or Mid West).
  • Presence at two or more Private peering locations listed above for International ISPs.
  • A minimum Internet traffic exchange of 250 Mbps (95th percentile) with Autonomous System 22773.
  • Willingness to enter into a Bilateral Interconnection Agreement and Non-Disclosure Agreement with Cox Communications.
  • Experienced, professional Network Operations Center staffed 24x7x365.
  • Consistent route announcements at all exchange locations.
  • Both companies shall agree to sustain an equal financial burden for the costs of private interconnection via local facilities.

Meeting the private or public guidelines above with Cox Communications is not a guarantee that peering will be established. Cox Communications reserves the right to not grant peering to an applicant based on business reasons.

If these requirements are not met, then a Paid-Peering arrangement can be made.
